In the middle of everything
We thought, we would stay in the middle of nowhere, but it turned out, we were privileged to stay in the middle of everything. The Old Cheese Loft is a neat, little house on a farm, furnished with a lot of love and care. The perfect place to enjoy really relaxed holidays. At night, it's so quiet, you can almost hear the sheep snoring on the fields around the farm. The bed and the sofa are super comfy and the kitchen is really well equiped. We also appreciated the heating ;-) There is a small river running in front of the house (the best view ever, while cooking!) and almost in the backyard is one of the most important archaeological sites of Scotland: The hill with Dunadd Fort. The Fort is long gone, but the view is amazing! Margaret and Tim are really nice and caring hosts and made us feel welcome right away. A really special experience during our stay was the feeding of the little lambs! Thank you so much for that and for everything else! Gabi & Chris
PS: Don't miss all the great hiking trails, that start just around the farm and please throw that old tennis ball for the cute farm dog Fern!

Home from Home
Had a fabulous stay in Gabran, everything we could need, very comfortable and clean. Margaret was great and helped when we needed anything .The cottage is very high quality and in a great position for seeing all in Kintyre. You are surrounded by history and beauty, a lovely part of Scotland. I would highly recommend Dunadd cottages.

The magic of Dunadd
When you like visiting a place so much your instinct is to keep it a secret so no one else "nabs" your weeks. But that wouldn't be fair to Margaret and Tim who work so hard to provide such well maintained, well presented and well equipped cottages. As soon as you enter Gabran you are aware that the owner takes real pride in the properties, from the lovely "Jolomo" prints on the wall to the quality plaid carpets on the floor. But Dunadd is more than just well presented cottages..it is more even than the beautiful diverse scenery it stands in and more than the almost mystical history in which the area is steeped.
One evening, on a recent visit, from the door of Gabran, I was watching a white ground mist creep slowly towards the farm from Kilmartin. It wrapped itself around the base of the copse in the adjacent field like some ghostly shroud and so I walked the 40 yards or so to the fence to take a photograph. At the fence, in the eerie silence, I was suddenly aware of a presence very close behind me. I turned to find I'd been followed by 4 hens, a cockerel and a lovely young border collie called Fern and they all stood looking at me sort of expectantly.
There is a magic about Dunadd Farm. I wish I could bottle some of it and take it back to Durham with me . But it keeps drawing my wife and me back and we will be back for our second visit this year in September for another long swig of that magic

our stay
I can't recommend this place highly enough! As well as being nicely decorated, extremely well equipped, cosy and spotlessly clean, Gabran cottage is very comfortable, has outstanding views and is the perfect place to get away from it all while still managing to be at the heart of numerous historical places to visit, lovely walks and nearby friendly pubs serving decent food (& ale!) at reasonable prices. Margaret & Tim are friendly and helpful hosts without being intrusive and the daily visits from their gorgeous dog Fern were a joy. My only complaint is that Gabran is fully booked for when our next holidays are due so we will have to wait longer before we can visit again!

Comgall cottage is clean, spacious & very cosy, well equipped with all that you need. It has stunning views for miles, a great location for visiting historical places, also great for walks, there are nearby pubs & restaurants that serve up good food (&ale) especially Kilmartin Hotel. Tim & Margaret are very friendy & helpful couple. They also have a collie called Fern she to is a very friendly & gentle dog. We have also stayed in the Gabran cottage which is just as clean & cosy as Comgall cottage - no faults what so ever. There are some great boat trips at Easdale sea life adventures or Crinan for seeing lots of wildlife just a short drive from cottages .We would recommend either cottage to anyone. We have had some fabulous holidays here for many years. So thank you Tim & Margaret for having us . Ken & Sheila
